Loving Message (meaning, criticism) to the Bitcoin Community

An open message to the bitcoin community, sent with love. Meaning, this is a criticism (and a recommendation).
Too many of you have argued that fiat money gets eroded as governments and central banks print money, cut interest rates or increase deficits. You note that the U.S. dollar has lost 97% of its value in the last 100 years, and 40% since 2000.
But here’s your mistake : You’re saying, “Get out of fiat and into bitcoin.” Sorry, that argument doesn’t resonate. Sure, inflation is a good reason for us all to get out of cash, but it’s not a reason for anyone to get into bitcoin.
Think about it: financial advisors (who control two-thirds of all investor assets in the U.S.) have been warning clients about inflation for decades. That’s why advisors minimize the amount of fiat currency their clients hold – and why advisors tell their clients to buy stocks, bonds, real estate, commodities and other inflation-beating assets.
Yet here you are, telling advisors and investors that governments and central banks can’t be trusted, and that fiat currencies are depreciating assets. That’s all true, but everyone already knows it. You’re reinforcing the reason we all need to get out of cash – but it’s not a reason for anyone to get into bitcoin.
That was the lovingly conveyed criticism. Here’s the recommendation: Change the narrative. Stop talking about macroeconomics. Enough with the Armageddon quotes. Instead, talk the language of investors and advisors, and tell them bitcoin offers tremendous opportunities to improve their portfolio’s diversification. Even single-digit allocations to bitcoin improve all the MPT statistics (you do know what MPT is, don’t you?). This is what advisors and institutional investors want to hear.
You should also highlight the fact that bitcoin’s fixed supply means that increased adoption directly results in an increased price – a feature not offered by any other asset.
You can add that bitcoin’s brand recognition, liquidity and regulatory clarity make it the least risky crypto exposure, and its first-mover advantage makes it the natural entry point for everyone – from individual to institutions to governments – entering the crypto market.
And the most compelling argument you can cite about bitcoin is the profit potential. I’m on record saying bitcoin will reach $500,000 by 2030 – a 5x increase that vastly exceeds the expectations anyone is making about any other asset class. Ask anyone, and they’ll tell you that stocks will rise 0.5x in this same period, or 90% less. In that context, you could argue, why would anyone invest in anything other than bitcoin?
If you continue harping on Satoshi’s philosophical rant of 2009, you’ll continue to impede widespread bitcoin adoption. You’ve already got 5% of the world involved; your focus should now be on the other 95%. And that means you need to start talking their language. Do that, and you’ll achieve your goal – bitcoin owned by everyone, everywhere – far faster.
