Bitcoin Futures ETFs

As their name implies, bitcoin futures ETFs buy derivatives – contracts that give you the right to buy bitcoin in the future. This is different from actually buying bitcoin.

Global X ETFs

The Global X Blockchain & Bitcoin Strategy ETF (ticker: BITS) is an actively-managed fund that seeks to capture the long-term growth potential of the blockchain and digital assets theme. The fund takes long positions in U.S. listed bitcoin futures contracts and companies positioned to benefit from the increased adoption of blockchain technology.

ProShares ETF

ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BITO) is the first U.S. bitcoin-linked ETF offering investors an opportunity to gain exposure to bitcoin returns in a convenient, liquid and transparent way. The fund seeks to provide capital appreciation primarily through managed exposure to bitcoin futures contracts.

Valkyrie Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BTF) is an actively managed ETF available that invests primarily in bitcoin futures contracts.

VanEck Bitcoin Strategy ETF (XBTF) is an actively managed ETF aiming to give investors exposure to bitcoin returns. The Fund seeks to provide returns mainly through investing in bitcoin futures contracts.

Note: some of these ETFs don’t invest solely in bitcoin futures. For example, Global X’s Bitcoin Futures ETF also invests in companies or funds that directly own digital assets, or are involved in the blockchain technology ecosystem. Such ETFs are therefore more diversified than those investing solely in bitcoin futures contracts
